What is BIM?

According to buildingSMART, the Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodology is: “A collaborative working methodology for the design and management of building and civil engineering projects. It centralises all project information – geometric or 3D, time or 4D, cost or 5D, environmental or 6D, and maintenance or 7D – in a digital model developed by all project stakeholders. ” The use of BIM goes beyond the design phases, encompassing the execution of the project and extending throughout the life cycle of the building, enabling the management of the building and reducing operating costs.

It consists of several phases: project initiation management, preliminary study, pre-project, basic project and execution project.

On the other hand, there are also other phases, construction flames, the execution project that develops all the previous steps. It is the implementation of everything that has been put on the table.
